We are seeking a Construction Trainer and Assessor for our Certificate II in Construction Pathways qualification.

About the Construction Trainer Role

As a crucial member of the Yanchep Institute team, your role as a trainer and assessor is all about fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. You’ll have the freedom to tailor your teaching methods to empower your students, all without the constraints of micromanagement. With 20 hours per week, you’ll experience fantastic work-life balance, all while enjoying a competitive above award rate of pay.

It’s important to note that to excel in this role, you must be a bricklayer or possess substantial experience in bricklaying. Your responsibilities will include guiding and assessing students’ skills, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing the support and encouragement needed to help them succeed. It’s a role where your expertise in bricklaying and your passion for training can shine, all while making a real impact on the lives of disengaged and disadvantaged youth.

It is essential that you have:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 or above
  • Certificate II in Construction or higher
  • A minimum of 2 years working as a construction trainer and assessor
  • Demonstrated current knowledge and skills of the construction industry 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of theoretical and practical foundations in construction
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to disengaged and troubled youth
  • Demonstrated experience working with culturally diverse clients
  • Demonstrated high level proficiency in IT skills particularly MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the ability to upload documents to student database.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately complete required documentation in accordance with detailed time frames
  • A current Working with Children Check, or ability to obtain one

Certificate II in Construction Pathways – The Students

The course is primarily delivered to disengaged and disadvantaged youth. Yanchep Institutes prides itself in providing a considerate and supportive relationship with our students. It is vital that all our learners feel safe, respected and supported during their training. Our trainer must have an empathetic nature and be able to form connections with Yanchep Institute’s learners.

About the Construction Pathways Course

The Certificate II in Construction Pathways is delivered over the course of one year, from February to early December and consists of the following units of competency:

  • CPCCOM1012 Work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry 
  • CPCCOM1013 Plan and organise work 
  • CPCCOM1015 Carry out measurements and calculations
  • CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry 
  • CPCCVE1011 Undertake a basic construction project 
  • CPCCCM1011 Undertake basic estimation and costing 
  • CPCCCM2004 Handle construction materials 
  • CPCCCM2013 Undertake basic installation of wall tiles
  • CPCCBL2001 Handle and prepare bricklaying and blocklaying materials
  • CPCCCM2006 Apply basic levelling procedures
