School-Based Traineeships (SBTs) at Yanchep Institute

Complete a nationally recognised qualification while still attending school.

What is a School-Based Traineeship (SBT)?

At Yanchep Institute, we’re proud to offer School-Based Traineeships (SBTs), which are a fantastic opportunity for students to gain real-world work experience while completing their high school education.

A school-based traineeship lets you combine classroom learning with on-the-job training in your chosen industry. You’ll work with an employer, learn practical skills, and even get paid for the time you spend at work. As part of the program, you’ll also complete a nationally recognised qualification through a registered training organisation (RTO) such as Yanchep Institute.

How much does a School-Based Traineeship Cost?

One of the benefits of undertaking a School-Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SBAT) is that there are no tuition fees while you are still in school. However, there are a few potential expenses to keep in mind:

  • You may need to purchase special clothing, protective equipment, textbooks, or tools required for your chosen industry.
  • You will also be responsible for covering transportation costs to and from your workplace on the days you are working.

If your traineeship extends beyond your school graduation, you will need to pay the relevant fees and charges after that time. For more details, refer to the Vocational education and training fees and charges policy.

N.B. The Student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment.

Additional fees may apply such as resource fees and other fees. These must be charged in accordance with the Fees and Charges Policy.
